这两天，一则关于美国男孩沉迷中国玄幻小说，无法自拔，成功戒毒瘾的新闻刷屏网络……
据《南方周末》报道，美国男孩凯文·失恋后，卡扎德用毒品麻醉，偶然接触到中国玄幻小说《盘龙》（Coiling Dragon）之后，失控了。他一整天都不吃不喝，连续读了五六部(盘龙共21部)，相当于中文一百多万字。
后来，慢慢更新的盘龙已经不能满足他的胃口了。他找到了三个翻译网站，追逐了15部中国网络小说。……
卡扎德，美国男孩
卡扎德说：
“过去，我回家后只想吸毒。现在回家后，我充满了中国小说。它们像毒品一样上瘾，但至少不会伤害我的身体。”
2015年，卡扎德还在翻译连载中国网络文学“武侠世界”（wuxiaworld.com）里留言讲述了自己的故事：
晚上好，我想分享一个沉重的故事，但最终的结果是好的，因为我在这个网站上获得了快乐：
I'll try to be brief, in 2014 I had a breakup with a woman I was with for 2 years. After that I had a bit of a...problem, I got into drugs, I got addicted to Coke.
长话短说，2014年和女朋友分手两年，然后出了问题。我开始吸毒，对可卡因上瘾。
In February of this year I had did my last line and all of a sudden my heart started beating uncontrollably and I felt a deep pressure appear on the left side of my body all the way down. I thought I was having a heart attack. From that day on I felt that pressure every day, sometimes the pressure would build up and as it did I would actually have a hard time thinking clearly and get lightheaded.
2015年2月，吸完最后一道白粉后，心脏突然开始无法控制地跳跃，左半身感到强烈的压迫。我以为我的心脏病发作了。从那天起，我每天都能感受到这种压力。有时压力急剧增加，使我无法清醒地思考和头晕。

其实像卡扎德这样狂热的外国玄幻小说粉真的很多……
例如，这位自学汉语是为了阅读网络文学：

连载中国网络文学“武侠世界”（wuxiaworld.com），由美国深译者RWX成立于2014年底，到去年8月，其全球总访问量已超过10亿次，其中40%来自北美，20%来自欧洲。
该网站共发表了23部中国网络小说（web novels），7部已翻译完毕，包括原文340万字“我吃西红柿”盘龙(作家朱洪志)（Coiling Dragon）。
还包括spcnet几个网站聚集了外国志愿者翻译。

Book 1, Chapter 1 – Early Morning at a Township
第一章 小镇的早晨
The town of Wushan. An ordinary little town located within the Kingdom of Fenlai, west of the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts, the largest mountain range within the Yulan continent.
玉兰大陆第一山脉乌山镇‘魔兽山脉’芬莱王国西部的一个普通小镇。
As the morning sun rose, in the town of Wushan, there remained a slight hint of the cold, pure pre-dawn air. However, virtually all of the citizens of this small town had already come out to begin working. Even the six or seven year old children had already gotten out of bed and were preparing to begin their traditional morning exercises.
日出初升，乌山镇清晨依然有一丝寒意，但镇上几乎所有的居民都出来工作了。即使是六七岁的孩子也几乎起床开始了传统的晨练。
On an empty area in the eastern region of Wushan town, the warmth of the rays of the morning sun passed through the surrounding trees, leaving behind scattered spots of light on the empty ground.

A large group of children could be seen there, approximately one or two hundred in number. These children were separated into three groups, each group divided into several lines. All the children stood there silently, their faces solemn. The northernmost group of children were approximately six years old. The group in the middle, approximately nine to twelve years old. The ones in the south, the thirteen to sixteen year olds.

The leader’s name was Hillman (Xi’er’man). He was the captain of the guard for the Baruch (Ba’lu’ke) clan, the noble clan which owned Wushan town.

Hillman swept the group of children with his gaze.

“Good.” Satisfied, Hillman coldly nodded. The eyes of the six year old children displayed their confusion, while the eyes of the teenagers became very determined. They understood the meaning behind Hillman’s words.

早在2011年，南派三叔的《盗墓笔记》就出版了英文版Cavern of the Blood Zombies。
如今，国外的自愿翻译网站几乎形成了自己的运营模式——奖励模式建立了翻译团队。据说很多原本是日韩轻小说被抢走了（light novels）的粉丝。

他认为中国网络文学的优势在于丰富的想象力和不断成长的故事主线。

吴文辉介绍，目前，海外用户最喜爱的中国网络小说主要有幻想、武侠、仙侠等类型。
“这种网络文本的灵感来自于在中国流传和演变了数千年的神话传说、历史经典等。作品构建了深深植根于中国传统文化的巨大世界观，与西方世界的文化背景完全不同，给海外读者带来了前所未有的阅读体验。同时，它也充满了曲折和奇怪的情节，以及英雄的斗争经历。”
另一份统计：
▷ 在十大外国人最喜欢的网文中，“重生”“穿越”“种马”“炼丹”“开金手指”情节出现率极高；
▷ 50%出现在十大热书中。血统、族系（Bloodlines、Clan Politics）内容，主角50%修真（Cultivation），主角在50%炼体（Body Tempering），50%的主角会穿越异界（Transported to Another World），60%的主角有储物空间（Interspatial Storage）；
▷ 怪物和兽类出现在80%的故事中（Monsters、Beast）；
▷ 有很多60%的故事界域（Multiple Realms）；
▷ 90%讲的是男主角由弱变强的故事（Weak to Strong）。
盘龙的作者“我吃西红柿”反应如下:
“的确想过作品传播到海外，不过没想到是读者自发翻译在论坛上传播，我挺喜欢这样的事的。”
他认为故事和感情是共同的，会有爱和亲情。
唯一担心的是翻译。毕竟网络小说很长。有人愿意翻译这么长的小说，准确翻译吗？
那是谁在翻译呢？
前面提过的RWX其实就是“任我行”，1986年出生于四川成都，3岁与父母一起去美国学习UC伯克利，毕业后考入了“本科生很难进入”国务院下的外交部门。
这位武侠爱好者翻译了金庸古龙，一边工作一边完全翻译。“我吃西红柿”长文《盘龙》，340万字，花了他一年半的业余时间，被他称为“a hell of a ride”。
RWX在过去的15年里，他辞去了外交官的工作，专注于中国网络文学对英语世界的翻译和推广。他说，现在网站的平均日期PV为400万，吸引了24名译者做志愿翻译，其中还有金发碧眼学中医的小伙伴。
任大侠说他的话翻译速度为每周10-20章，中间一度翻译不了，全靠热心粉丝的自愿奖励:
A cycle had begun, and others scrambled to donate as well. This was far more work than I had bargained for…but I did what I promised, and this resulted in a virtuous (albeit exhausting) cycles of more updates=>more viewers=>more donations=>more updates.
然后一个无法停止的日常循环开始了，网民们争相奖励。我没想到工作量会这么大，但我完成了我的承诺。这促成了另一个良性循环（尽管它也很累）：更多的更新=>更多读者=>更多打赏=>更多更新。
The 90 hour workweek for a year has taken its toll; it’s been rewarding in many ways, both financial and personal, but at the same time, it’s been a killer. I’ve had no social life for a year, I’ve gained ~30 lbs from all that sitting in front of a computer, my right hand cramps at the pinky (from continuous stretching to the ‘shift’ button) , I haven’t gone out for a date in ages…the list goes on and on.

其中《蓝凤凰》（Blue Phoenix），作者是Tina Lynge，据说是住在丹麦，25岁左右的美少女。
《蓝凤凰》已经在亚马逊出版了一本电子书，讲述了一个叫做的故事Hui Yue(主角名字都是拼音)英雄在“弱肉强食的世界如何靠自己的力量生存？”故事。这本书是外国人的“豆瓣”Goodreads评价266人，褒贬不一。
Tina Lynge还有一部小说叫Escaping Fate。
